Pawleys Island and Huntington Beach State Park

Last month’s trip to Pawleys Island and Huntington Beach State Park was somewhat disappointing in terms of bird sightings and photo opportunities. Although I’ve had success there in the past, this time there were very few birds of any kind in the marshes and along the shore. I did come across a couple Anhingas near the residential docks. Of course we had some Brown Pelicans flying by, but it was always when I didn’t have my camera with me. Here’s a couple shots of the Anhingas.

Perhaps these characters had something to do with it…just sayin’!

Most likely, the winter visitors had just departed, and the summer crowd hadn’t yet arrived. Timing is crucial, after all! Here’s some images from previous trips to the same area.

Hopefully, our upcoming trip in a few weeks to Tybee Island and Savannah, Georgia will be more successful, with a wider variety of subjects both avian and historical to see. This will be our second trip to this area, our first trip was nine years ago so I’m eagerly anticipating it. Here’s a few images from that first visit.

That’s it for now. Take care and God bless!
